Rostering

  1. The Daly Roster Report now contains two signature fields; one for the employee and the other for the supervisor.
  2. New. A new Roster Summary Report By Employment Type is now available within Maintain Employee Rosters. It reports employee rosters by Full Time, Part Time & Casual with a page break between each.

Payroll

  1. An issue that caused an out-of-balamce General Ledger edit report on interface of negative pay details has been corrected.
  2. An issue that caused the Deatilled Employee Earnings Report to fail has been corrected.
  3. The Ok button is now the default accept button in Pay Details Entry when it is enabled. You not longer have to tab onto the button, use the mouse or press ALT-o to complete an input page. Simply enter as much of the timesheet/hours record as necessary and press Enter.
  4. The Finish button is now the default accept button on the Pay Summary page in Pay Details Entry. To accept a pay all you need now do is press Enter.

A faster pay entry method

During recent payroll seminars held with our clients a continuing concern was raised with us regarding the speed of data entry. We reviewed the code and found that improvements could be made.

Items  3 and 4 above represent the implementation of a much faster method of payroll data entry as they reduce or eliminate altogether the use of ALT key combinations. For example, use the following pattern to enter an employee’s Timesheet details…

  1. Enter the employee Number and press the Enter key. The timesheet entry form will become active.
  2. Enter the Date, start and finish times etc for the first shift. When complete press Enter.
  3. Repeat step 2 for the remaining shifts.
  4.  With all shifts entered, press the Page-Up key. This will display the calculated pay summary.
  5. If the pay summary is correct press Enter to complete the pay and move to the next employee.

A similar pattern can be used for all other hours types. Remember that Page-Up and Page-Down navigate through the various pay entry forms (hours, leave, worker compensation etc). Whether it is easier to use these keys to move to the pay summary or to use ALT-f is dependent on personal choice.
